Perfect Travel Tripod that doesn't cost the earth - K&F Concept S210
I’ve had several K&F Concept tripods in the past. They have all the features I want and need, they’re reliable, and they’re always affordable. What’s not to love!
Their latest offering, the K&F Concept S210 (check it out on Amazon here) continues this trend. This little tripod packs a ton of features that rival tripods that are much more expensive. So let’s get into it.
S210 — Compact and well designed
The first thing that caught my eye is the lovely stylish new plates. They’re arca-swiss style, so they fit anything that takes that mount, such as the Zhiyun Weebill Lab, and of course a myriad other tripods and monopods. This is particularly handy for me as a wedding videographer; I need all my stuff to be compatible for the many quick-change moments that happen throughout the day. If I need to whip my camera off the tripod and onto my gimbal, I can do so here without issue. Within seconds. Love it!
Also the spirit level is so handy. It seems like such a small thing, something you might not need — we can generally gauge when things are straight, right? — well, I’ve recently gotten into star tracking my astrophotography. And for this to work you absolutely NEED to have a perfectly straight tripod. Another reason why I love K&F Concept tripods.
The ball head is great, giving full movement and it also makes vertical framing really simple too. I tend to shoot a lot of my timelapses in vertical mode for all those lovely Instagram and Pinterest likes, and it works great here. I shot this timelapse with this tripod in Monument Valley recently.
K&F Concept tripod — compact but mightly
This little dude packs down pretty small. I love that you can sort of invert the legs onto the main coloumn to make it extra small. But it raises to a very impressive 79" height. So you’re not compromising in the slightest. To give you some more nerdy specs, it’s made from magnesium alloy, so it won’t rust, and it’s super light and strong. It can hold up to 8kg of camera, which is probably more than any of us will ever need.
K&F Concept S210 — other cool bits and bobs
One of the legs comes off to become a monopod. How cool is that? To be perfectly honest it isn’t a feature I’ve ever used in real life. But I can see how it could be super handy, especially for nature/sports photographers.
It has clicky legs, not twisty legs. You know those sort of levers you pull up to extend the legs? I much prefer that to the twisty type.
You can use the rotating ball head to make panoramas line up perfectly. Even long exposure one or astrophotography ones.
It comes in a lovely soft case. That I immediately discard. But it’s a great touch. Maybe you want to keep this in your car? Keep it in a lovely bag.
The leg points can be rubber, or spikes, depending on your terrain.
There’s a hook in the middle to stick your bag on to add weight and stability in windy conditions.
K&F Concept S210 Review — Conclusion
This tripod gives you a ton of premium stuff for the price point. They’re built to last too, so see it as a “forever tripod” if you usually buy cheaper ones.
I love that it is small but without comporomise. I love that I can take it on holiday with me in my hand luggage. I love that I can stick it on the side of my bag without it being a pain in the arse. It’s pretty stylish, too, with the red and black design and the cute branded quick release plate.
I’m actually struggling to think of things it doesn’t do here. OK I’ve throught of one. It doesn’t have a horizontal swinging bar like its more expensive brother. But the pay off of that is it’s heavier and bulkier. So give me the S210 any day.
So yes. If you’re in the market for a tripod, definitlye consider this one. I am a fan.
