About

Hiya! I’m Emily…

I’m a complete photography and camera nerd. I’ve been a professional photographer for over 12 years now, and I’ve transitioned to a full-time content creator and educator.

I believe that with the right knowledge you can get amazing photos, regardless of your budget, and I set out to prove that in my “Tiny Camera Series” where I take budget or older cameras for a spin.

Here are the main tools I use to run my YouTube channel and other socials. Cameras first, other accessories below!

Lumix G9ii

Wildlife photography, filming, travel, weather-sealed

This is my main camera at the moment, and my favourite hybrid camera of all time. I’ve taken the Lumix G9ii to Kenya on safari, and on an American road trip, and everything in-between. It never lets me down! The auto focus is incredible. It’s weather-sealed. It’s currently the best micro four thirds camera money can buy.

Insta360 Go 3

Timelapse, interesting angles, POV photography, travel

This little camera is so versatile and a wonderful addition to anyone’s kit, especially if you like to share snippets of your life online. There’s so much more to this camera than people think! My full review is here.

DJI Pocket 3

Vlogging, B-roll, everyday carry, great audio

This is my “everyday carry” video camera, for those times when lugging around my larger camera doesn’t seem appealing. The quality is excellent, and the bundled microphone makes talking to camera out and about convenient. It’s so easy to use, I can hand this to anyone to help me film.

Used Tiny Cameras

If you’ve seen you YouTube videos, you know I have a bit of a revolving door when it comes to smaller, everyday carry cameras. I’d be here forever if I tried to list them all, but I do buy the vast majority of them Used from MPB. If you’re on the lookout for any of the cameras I’ve mentioned on this website or on my YouTube channel, then definitely check out MPB first for the best price!

Rode Wireless Go II

I love how simple these are to use. You can also mic someone else up too because the pack comes with two transmitters. The battery life is good, and the mic record a backup track internally so you’re safe even if you lose signal.

Philip Bloom Mist Filter

ARRGH I love this filter so much. It basically lives on my camera for video. It softens everything just a little bit, blooms the highlights, and I just find it so pleasing. All Formatt Hitech filters in general are absolutely epic.

Brevite Jumper Bag

I have a love-hate relationship with this bag! It is by far my favourite design, and I love that it’s so incognito. It fits my Macbook in no problem, along with everything else. But… maybe just don’t buy it in white. It is machine washable, but my goodness, the white version takes a bit of upkeep! Thankfully there are loads of other colours!

Lenses for general things

I have quite a large selection of micro four thirds lenses, but these are my faves and most often used:-

  • Lumix Leica 12-60mm f2.8-4 — This is my stock of choice. It’s weathersealed and wonderfully versatile. If I go on holiday, this lens rarely leaves my camera. It can be a bit pricy standalone, but it’s sometimes the kit stock lens, so you can definitely save money on this lens if you happen to be looking for a new camera body at the same time.

  • Lumix Leica 25mm f1.4 — Such a beaut! If you like a nifty fifty this is the best one I’ve used on the system. It’s small, super fast, and really pleasing. I just wish it were weathersealed. There’s an updated version now but I’m still rocking the original. You can get a good deal on the mki usually.

  • Olympus 17mm f1.8 — This is such a great walkabout lens. I love the 35mm equivalent focal length. It’s built like a tank and has never let me down!

Lenses for wildlife

  • Olympus 40-150mm f2.8 — one of the best lenses on the micro four thirds system. Here’s my written and video review. I got some great shots in Kenya with this lens! Definitely one to consider if you enjoy wildlife photography

  • Lumix Leica 100-400mm — 800mm in full frame terms, and still super tiny. This is why I love this system! This is THE lens for wildlife and birds. The mkii can even be used with 1..4x and 2x teleconverters.

And as always, it’s well worth checking out MPB for these lenses too. You can get lenses in excellent condition with huge discounts. MPB US / MPB UK / MPB EU
