Is the most EXPENSIVE micro four thirds lens ever made worth it? “Big White” Review!
The Olympus Pro 150-400mm f4.5 constant, also known as Big White. It's the most expensive Micro Four Thirds lens ever made! So, needless to say, my expectations were sky-high. Is it worth the hefty price tag? Let me show you what I got up to with this lens and share my thoughts and feelings.
Lumix G9ii is the best yet — long-term review
I’ve used the Lumix G9ii for many months now. I’ve taken it on Safari, shot two wedding films, taken it to California, and filmed a dozen YouTube videos and more. The Lumix G9ii is almost perfect, and certainly the best micro four thirds camera ever made. Those are big words. But. it’s true! Let me tell you why…
Laowa 25mm f0.95 review
What an interesting lens! You can get some fantastic low light images with this lens, but it isn’t without its quirks. Check out all my photo examples and full review here.
American Road Trip - part #2 — Zion National Park, Las Vegas
I’ve been to Zion national park twice before, and until I went to Yosemite it was my favourite national park. Zion is blummin’ stunning. It has a bit of everything — red desert stone, green trees, blue water. It’s great.
This time we decided to do a nice simple walk called the Canyon Overlook Trail. It’s just about a mile round trip. The view at the end is just… amazing. It’s about as good as Angel’s Landing and you don’t have to kill yourself to see it.
American Road Trip - part #1 — Sequoia National Park and Yosemite
Two weeks.
7 national parks over 4 states.
2200 miles driven.
Hopefully a lot of nice photos to show for it! I took with me my Lumix GH5, and my Lumix S1, with a handful of lenses. Because clearly I don’t value my own back, or take heed to luggage allowances. I totally over-packed. But hey! I am a Nerd.
Olympus 60mm f2.8 Macro review — photo examples
Fun fact: the Olympus 60mm f2.8 macro lens is the lens that convinced me to switch to micro four thirds. I tried it in a shop on an Olympus Pen F. I took a penny out of my pocket and started shooting. I fell in love with the lens there and then. Here are my thoughts and some photo examples of the Olympus 60mm f2.8 macro lens for micro four thirds.
Meike 16mm T2.2 cine lens review
What a time to be alive. We finally have some affordable, blummin’ fantastic quality cine lenses for micro four thirds. The Meike 16mm T2.2 cine lens is a little gem. It’s available for micro four thirds and Sony E mount. Here are my thoughts.
3 Reasons why your camera gear doesn't matter (and 1 time when it does)
There have been a lot of weighty discussions lately about gear. The Sensor Size War of 2019 is still raging online where ever you look. It’s all a big stupid, isn’t it? Here are my thoughts on the matter.
Olympus Pen F Review. Still a contender?
The Olympus Pen F is a super (and I mean super) stylish camera that was aimed squarely towards high-end consumers when it first came out. As the price slowly slips over the years, it’s getting a bit of a cult following, so I thought I’d review the Pen F in 2019. Is it still worth considering?
7Artisans 60mm f2.8 macro lens REVIEW
The 7Artisans 60mm f2.8 macro lens is pretty darn impressive. I was lucky enough to get my hands on one before its release. Here are my findings, along with loads of test images.
7Artisans 7.5mm f2.8 Fisheye Review - Real World Results
The 7Artisans 7.5mm f2.8 fisheye lens is such a gem. I can’t believe the price of it compared to the results it can give you. I’ve been using it steadily for over 3 months now, for everything from astrophotography to every day walk-about photography. Here are my thoughts, and loads of photo examples for you to take a look at.
Lumix G7 Review — Still a contender in?
The Lumix G7 in many ways was a revelation when it was first released. It was one of the most affordable ways to get 4k, and it all came in a brilliantly thought-out small camera body too.
But it was released in (hold onto your hats!) 2015, which seems like an age in Photography Land.
So is it still worth a consideration in 2015? Well, I still have one. I still use my G7 — both professionally and personally — and I blummin’ love it. But of course, like any camera, it is far from perfect. So let’s dive in!
Adapting lenses to Micro Four Thirds - Beginner's Guide and TIPS
One of the greatest things about the micro four thirds camera system is how easy it can be to adapt other brand lenses and even vintage lenses to the system. But if this is something you haven’t tried before, it can be a bit daunting. So here’s a beginner’s guide to adapting lenses.
How To Shoot Astrophotography (For Beginners)
I've been dabbling with astrophotography for several years now, just casually trying to improve. I'm by no means an expert but I think I have enough experience now to do a beginner's guide. So here it is! A beginner’s guide to astrophotography.
Cheap Camera Gear, Good Photos - It Doesn't Have To Cost The Earth
Is it possible? Course it is. Here are 10 awesome camera / lens combos under £500 that I’ve personally used over the years. I’ll even pop some other suggestions at the end of the blog.
Thinking of switching to Micro Four Thirds? 3 PROS and 3 CONS
Micro Four Thirds isn’t for everyone. Have a read to see if it’s for you. There are many pros and cons to the m43 system, and for me, the benefits far outweigh the negatives (and there are negatives!) but it all depends on you, and what you want to achieve. So let’s get stuck in.
Falcon Eyes Bi-Color RX-18TD // Real World Review
The FalconEyes RX-18TD might be a pain in the butt to say, but it sure is an impressive light.
I’ve taken the FalconEyes light on two commercial jobs now, so I thought it’s time I gave it a proper, real-world, real life review. With real results. Because that’s what we’re all about on this site!
My Top 10 Photos of the year (Micro Four Thirds)
I think 2018 has been a great year for my photography outside of my commissioned work. I’ve evolved my colour grading quite a bit, and I think — even through sheer practice and time spent on photography — my skills have improved quite a bit.
That’s one of the reasons why I love photography so much: There’s always room to improve. There’s always a new skill to learn, a new technique to try, a new project to take on.
Isn’t that all a bit cool?
I’ve decided to keep this list to my “passion project” photography — as in, not any commissioned wedding or portrait work. I may make a seprate list for that.
Anyway, without further any more waffling, here are my top 10 images of 2018.
The Best Micro Four Thirds Lenses
The best micro four thirds lenses
(in my opinion!)
I have a lot of lenses. Like… a LOT. Probably way too many lenses. But LOOK HOW CUTE THEY ARE! This is a family photo I can get on board with.
